At A Dog's Life! we want to help you to better communicate with your dog, thus forming a lasting bond and positive relationship. We therefore offer a variety of group classes for you and your dog to enjoy. All of our training programs utilize positive reward based methods, with no coercion or harsh corrections, taught by qualified, passionate instructors. We help you build a foundation of understanding with your dog in a fun, interactive environment. Training Classes: Enrollment Form: Please read our enrollment and approval form. This must be filled out and faxed, mailed, or personally delivered to our office. Beginning Clicker Manners is just that: managing your dogs' behavior in your home, and giving you the teaching skills to help your dog to be a good canine citizen outside the home. Basic obedience behaviors are covered, and then we show you how to "proof" these behaviors as they are learned (that is, making sure they will work outside of class!) We focus on the science underlying the method of positive training, explaining in plain English how dogs learn and how you can learn to teach them. By the end of the course you will have the skills to teach your dog anything they are physically capable of doing. We offer Puppy Kindergarten for young dogs less than 16 weeks of age. This class focuses on socialization and puppy development, covering basic puppy behaviors like house training, crate training, jumping, mouthing, etc. Supervised puppy playtime is a fun and educational part of this super cute and fun class. A lot of our clients lead very busy lives and don't have the time to develop consistent control over their dogs. Traditionally, the only training options are to attend scheduled classes-which don't always fit everyone's lives; to hire a private behaviorist-which can be cost prohibitive; or to send your dog to a "doggie boot camp" board/train coercion program for several weeks-which normally use aversion techniques including shock collars and other harsh corrections. Doggy DaySchool is a great alternative, providing training on a regular basis without the scheduling conflicts or time away from home. Each doggy DaySchool program is designed to meet your individual training goals. Dogs that are best suited for our programs are those that need basic household manners, (i.e. name recognition, sit, down, recall, wait, loose leash walking, etc.), and for those that just want to learn parlor tricks, (i.e. spin, roll over, figure 8, etc.) Dogs will come to daycare like normal, and will be pulled from the playgroup for their training session. After the lesson your dog will be returned to the playgroup to hang out with friends.
